Green Living & Technology Fair

 When: Saturday, April 17, 11 am - 5 pm

Where: St Jacobs Arena, 29 Parkside Drive, St Jacobs

               Ride the Grand River Transit bus route #21 to St. Jacobs

Cost: FREE! Donations welcome

At the Green Living & Technology Fair, you can:

  • Learn simple ways to reduce your energy and water use
  • Buy green products
  • Talk with solar, geothermal and other green energy providers
  • Learn about home energy audits and grants for home and business energy efficiently renovations
  • Find out more about green cars and carsharing, bike repair, home insulation, landscaping and much more! 

Bring your old bike to the Fair! You can donate it to support The Working Centre.  

There is a FREE residential electronic waste drop off at the Fair courtesy of Greentec!

Alternative Energy Tours

 

When: Saturday, April 17, 12:00 – 3:30 pm       

Where: St Jacobs Arena, 29 Parkside Drive, St Jacobs

Cost: FREE! Donations welcome.

 

Two exciting and educational alternative energy tours are being offered in conjunction with the Green Living and Technology Fair:

 

1. Solar, Geothermal & Strawbale Homes

Visit 2 energy efficient homes in Woolwich Township.

Ask your questions of:

a)    Solar home owner, Paul Parker, and solar installer, Green Grid Solutions

b)    Strawbale and geothermal home owner, Paul Psutka, and geothermal installer, Bush Enterprises.

Shuttle bus leaves approximately every 45 minutes 12-2:30 pm from the arena.

 

2. REEP House for Sustainable Living

 

 

 

 

 

Take the YMCA’s Veggie bus to get a sneak preview of REEP’s 90% energy efficient demonstration century home with super-insulation, R-7 windows, solar panels, geo-thermal, and more! Can attend this tour by shuttle bus only. Bus departs from the arena at 12, 1, & 2pm.

 When: Sunday, April 18, 1 – 4 pm

Start to plan now for the 1st Annual “Try a Tri” event! The triathlon is for any age group with all levels of ability.

Bike…                         3 laps (10 km) or 30 minutes

Run/Walk…    10 laps (4.5 km)

Swim…           10 laps or 10 minutes
